There are many reasons to adopt an animal from a shelter or rescue organization. Shelters & rescues have all types of pets, mixed breeds, purebreds, big and small. Shelter pets are far less expensive, they are vet-checked, vaccinated, and spayed/neutered, which is usually included as part of the cost. Some of these animals have never had a home; others were abandoned, neglected, or surrendered by their previous owners for various reasons. People often think shelters & rescues contain only the “reject” pets that have health or behavior problems. This is far from the truth!! Too many animals get euthanized, and horses slaughtered every day; we can save some of them. Shelters/Rescues are filled with loving animals that are grateful to have a second chance at a happy life. They can, and do bond with their new owners, and become the most devoted and loving of family pets.
